Nothing here follows a roadmap, so this is the honest record instead: every release since TinkerYard opened, and what actually landed in it.
v1.3.1
Latest
Sharper ASCII art
A quick follow-up to the Text Tools release - the ASCII Art Generator's output was rendering broken and speckled with colour on some setups.
FixedASCII Art Generator output showed stray coloured fringing around letters on some displays.
FixedASCII Art Generator letters were losing most of their shape - too little vertical detail to read clearly.
v1.3.0
Text Tools, seventeen of them
A whole new section: everyday text utilities, from a word counter to an ASCII art generator, each one instant and running entirely in your browser.
AddedText Tools - seventeen utilities: Word & Character Counter, Case Converter, Lorem Ipsum Generator, Text Diff Checker, Duplicate Line Remover, Text Sorter, Find & Replace, Whitespace Cleaner, Slug Generator, Text Reverser, Word Frequency Counter, Line Number Adder, Text Repeater, Number to Words Converter, Pig Latin Translator, ROT13/Caesar Cipher, and an ASCII Art Text Generator.
v1.2.0
Nine new tools, and a proper front door
The first Image Tools - convert between every common format, including iPhone photos. Contact grew into its own page, badges got a redesign, and the small tools finally have a footer worth looking at.
AddedImage Tools - nine converters: PNG to JPG, JPG to PNG, WebP to PNG, WebP to JPG, PNG to WebP, JPG to WebP, GIF to PNG, BMP to PNG, and HEIC to JPG for iPhone photos.
AddedA Contact page - email, X and Instagram, each with its own official icon.
Added"Building since July 2026" and a fuller story on the About Us page.
ChangedHot and new badges redesigned - a big animated emoji in the top-right corner of a card, no background chip.
ChangedEvery small tool now ends in the same footer as the homepage, not a bare copyright line.
ChangedThe share rail (X, Reddit, WhatsApp, Instagram, Copy Link, Email) now shows on phones instead of only wider screens.
ChangedCopy Link now copies just the link - the "check this out" text stayed with Email only.
ChangedThe "we don't store your file" notice on image tools is now a small floating note, not a banner across the top.
ChangedNew mascot artwork across the logo and favicon.
FixedBuy me a chai was missing on Kontrib, YouExtrac and LitePad - it now sits beside Buy me a coffee everywhere.
FixedShared preview images showed the wordmark as two separate words instead of "TinkerYard".
FixedLow-contrast share icons on Kontrib.
v1.1.1
Fine print, in full
The privacy policy was rewritten from a short summary into a real one. It now names every tool, says exactly what each does with what you give it, and lists every outside service involved in running the site.
AddedA tool-by-tool privacy table - each of the thirteen projects tagged either "never leaves your device" or "calls a server", with what it sends and where.
AddedEvery third-party service now listed by name and role, each linking to its own privacy policy.
AddedSections on ads and cookies (including how to turn personalised ads off), data retention, your rights under GDPR and CCPA, children's privacy, security and where requests are handled.
AddedA jump list at the top of the policy, so any section is one tap away.
ChangedThe policy's last-updated date is now shown on the page and used for its sitemap entry, so a revision is always dated honestly.
v1.1.0
Sharper edges
A rebuild of the shell the tools sit in. The whole site now runs off one tool registry, so every card, preview image and search listing comes from the same place - and every tool got easier to share and easier to support.
AddedShare rail on every tool - X, Reddit, WhatsApp, Instagram, Copy Link and Email, down the right edge of the page.
AddedBuy me a chai now sits beside Buy me a coffee everywhere, so support works either way.
AddedHand-drawn hero and footer scenes frame the landing page, with the mascot logo and wordmark on both.
AddedA Contact page, and this Versions page - so every change from here on has a public record.
ChangedSite rebuilt on shared UI components: one card, grid, badge and section set behind every project.
ChangedEvery tool now has its own generated preview image and structured data, so links unfurl properly and pages can earn rich results.
ChangedPassword Generator rebuilt on the shared components, with a proper hero and a copy pass.
ChangedHot and new corner badges on cards, so what is worth a look is obvious at a glance.
FixedThe wordmark in shared preview images rendered with the wrong face and colour.
FixedSharing About, Privacy, Contact or Versions showed the homepage's title and description instead of the page's own.
v1.0.0
The yard opens
The first release, and the day TinkerYard was born - a small workshop of free things to use and play with. Warm paper, hard outlines, a mascot toolbox, and no reason to sign up for anything. This covers everything from the very first commit to the site going live on its own domain.
AddedThe site itself: landing page, brand and the one rule everything follows - nothing here asks who you are. No accounts, no trials, no popups.
AddedYouExtrac - turn a YouTube playlist or a timestamped description into a clean tracklist with YouTube and Spotify links.
AddedSomething to Stare At - cozy looping scenes with ambient sound, built for a background tab.
AddedKontrib - score your GitHub commit style against top open source contributors, with a 1v1 battle mode.
AddedLitePad - a native Rust notepad for Windows in a single 4 MB exe. No Electron, zero telemetry.
AddedPinThemes - a Chrome and Edge extension that recolours every surface of Pinterest and drops in your own background image.
AddedEight browser utilities: QR Code Scanner, Barcode Scanner, Color Picker, Password Generator, JSON Formatter, Image Compressor, Markdown Previewer and Spin the Wheel.
AddedAbout and Privacy pages, and a 404 worth landing on.
ChangedAnything that can run in your browser does - images, camera frames, generated passwords and pasted text never leave your machine.
ChangedSpeed pass across the site: real image optimisation, self-hosted artwork and fonts, and fewer round trips before first paint.
